Promote Your Campaign in the Blogosphere
Getting your campaign mentioned on the right blog can attract scores of new members. The general approach is as follows:
1. Find relevant blogs
- Use blog search engines like Technorati and Google Blog Search.
- Don't forget a simple Google search!
- Many blogs have "blog rolls" in the sidebar, which is usually a list of similar blogs.
- Check out The Point's list of online communities. Click on the keywords in the right column to see a list of relevant communities.
2. Ask bloggers to write about your campaign
Bloggers can do anything from posting a link to your campaign to writing an article about it to posting a campaign badge in the blog sidebar. A few tips on how to email bloggers:
- Keep it brief
- Focus on their interests. Why will their readers care about your campaign?
- Try to mention specific posts of theirs and how they relate to your campaign.
3. Leave comments
Monitor blogs for relevant new articles and post comments that mention your campaign.
- The earlier you comment on an article, the more people will read it.
- Don't SPAM - Contribute to the conversation.
