Promoting your campaign on Twitter
Twitter is a free micro-blogging service that allows users to send "updates" also called "tweets" that are limited to 140 characters. Anyone who chooses to follow your tweets will receive them on their twitter page, and may also choose to have them forwarded to their email address or to their phone as text messages. Twitter is very effective at quickly delivering short updates to large groups of people.
There are 2 ways to use Twitter to promote your campaign.
- Contact like-minded Twitter users
- Search Twitter for keywords relevant to your campaign.
- Find people who care about your issue and ask them to join your campaign or write about it on their blog.
- Tweet to your followers
- If you have an existing twitter account and anyone is following you, write a general tweet about your campaign and everyone will see it.
